Halloween weekend is shaping up to be cold and dry across the Concord area, giving trick-or-treaters clear skies but chilly temperatures to contend with. Here’s what residents need to know before heading out this weekend — including an important reminder about the clocks.
The region has been running notably short on rainfall. According to almanac data, the last measurable precipitation in Concord fell on October 17, and it amounted to just 0.1 inches. Despite that dry streak, little relief is expected in the days ahead.
Winds are expected to calm through Thursday evening, with overnight lows dropping into the 30s under mostly clear skies.
Halloween Forecast: Cold but Clear
Saturday’s Halloween forecast calls for dry conditions with highs reaching only the mid-40s to low 50s — a cooler-than-average day for late October. By the time families head out for trick-or-treating Saturday evening, temperatures will have dropped into the 40s across most of the area.
Overnight Saturday into Sunday will bring one of the coldest nights of the season so far, with lows expected to dip into the 20s. Sunday, November 1st, should remain dry with afternoon highs climbing back into the 50s.
Don’t Forget to Set the Clocks Back
Daylight Saving Time comes to an end at 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning, meaning clocks should be turned back one hour before bed Saturday night. The time change brings an extra hour of sleep — or, for some, an extra hour of Halloween festivities. It also means notably earlier sunrises and sunsets beginning November 1st, with the sun rising at 6:20 a.m. and setting as early as 4:37 p.m.
