The Games That Went Down to the Wire
Several matchups in Week 8 had fans on the edge of their bleacher seats. Valley (West Des Moines) edged Ankeny 36–35 in what may be the closest rivalry finish of the season. West Branch outlasted Bellevue 34–33 in a one-point nail-biter, and Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley survived Western Christian 42–41. Denison-Schleswig needed overtime to get past Boone 19–12. Shenandoah and Tri-Center also put on a show, with Shenandoah prevailing 54–49 in a high-scoring back-and-forth battle.
Dominant Performances
On the other end of the spectrum, several teams put up eye-popping numbers. Stanton posted the week’s highest score, dismantling Melcher-Dallas 85–22. Coon Rapids-Bayard cruised past Glidden-Ralston 72–15, Don Bosco (Gilbertville) topped Tripoli 72–12, and Moravia handled Twin Cedars 72–14. Bedford shut out Lamoni 68–0, while Hampton-Dumont-CAL rolled over Dike-New Hartford 70–24. In the metro, Dowling Catholic dominated Ankeny Centennial 37–10, and Waukee Northwest blanked rival Waukee 44–0.
